Privacy Policy

• Account information: your email address and password. Passwords are stored encrypted (hashed) by our authentication provider — we never see your actual password.
• If you use an external sign-in method: the name and email address associated with that account.
• Learning data: kana/kanji/grammar progress, review history (review logs), level, daily streaks, and preferences you set on the Settings page (e.g. display theme and study focus).
• Automatically collected technical data: IP address, device/browser type, and aggregated usage and page-performance metrics.
• Session cookies/storage required to keep you signed in.

• Providing and maintaining your account, and storing learning progress across sessions and devices;
• Adapting your review schedule (spaced repetition) based on your answer history;
• Sending important account-related emails, such as email verification or password reset;
• Understanding feature usage in aggregate to improve and develop the Service;
• Keeping the Service secure and preventing abuse.

We do not sell your personal data. Data is processed or shared only as necessary with service providers that help operate Kuy Nihongo, including for operational and security purposes.

• Authentication, database, and storage services used to manage accounts and learning progress;
• Hosting, performance monitoring, and aggregated usage analytics services;
• External sign-in providers, only if you choose to use such a sign-in method.

We use cookies and local storage that are necessary to keep you signed in and remember display preferences (like theme). We don't use third-party advertising cookies.

We use reasonable security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed password storage, and row-level access controls on our database so you can only access your own data. That said, no system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and learning progress will be removed from our systems within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain certain data longer for legal reasons.

Under applicable data protection regulations, including Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law, you have the right to:

• Access and update your account data via the Settings page;
• Request a copy of the data we hold about you;
• Request deletion of your account and associated data;
• Withdraw your consent, for example by discontinuing use of the Service.

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under that age. If you're a parent/guardian and believe your child has provided us personal data without your consent, please contact us so we can delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the Service, and the "effective date" below will be updated.
